ODE TO THE SWORD

An Ode to The Sword

 A weapon of mass destruction

Slices through my enemies like paper

A representation of medieval times

Sharp metal forged by blacksmiths

People use their sword for offense

Mine helps me with defense

A sword used to fight spills blood

The blood is dark like ink

The ink staining the paper is prominent

Emotions inside me become dominant

Words hit me like an attack

But the words protect me like a shield in battle

A wound would heal with time

Words outlive you and I

The sword might be powerful

But the pen is mightier than the sword

#MeToo Movement

Some nights she would be fine

Other nights she would just cry

But nights like these were the worst

The ones where nightmares reminded her how much it hurts

She’d wake with screams that could shatter glass

Haunted with demons from the past

The monster that terrorized her stole her voice

And people think her silence was a choice

She was lost without a sound

But another’s voice helped her’s be found

#MeToo trends on the twitter feed

The understanding she didn’t know that she would need

Someone else seemed to know her pain

By speaking out it made the demons tame

She still had no words of her own

It helped that others shared her tone

Even though her weakness made her burn with hate

Peace might one day be her faith
